We beat the drum
We dance
we sing
Till we evoke the spirit of who we are
who we were
And who we ought to become.

Why does a spiritual gift make you sick or just seem beaten up by life?

“Why would our loving God give you such a burdensome gift?
This does not make sense.
It must be evil I swear!”

Lesedi, Kgotso, le Lerato hadi ate.
Ubizo, “the gift”. For the longest time of its existence had no vocabulary to explain what it really is.
Now, with great thanks, we receive and we acknowledge that the universe is shifting our consciousness in the direction of a source of information where we learn how to interpret her, the one we call Life/Gaia. Mother. God.

For some, the gift has memories of  “almost coming toe to toe with death.”
Well, until they were told that “unobizo” and in order to heal, “kufanele uthwase”.

Sounds familiar?
You’ve either been the patient who was told this diagnosis,
or the doctor who has more than once made this diagnosis;
perhaps you have heard someone tell such a story.

It doesn’t make sense though, how could a gift make you suffer like that?
Why is it so complicated to claim it? why is it so expensive?
This is pure evil. It is a thing of demons.

This is the conclusion a lot of us have made.
However, as I have said before, this realm of existence took some time to build its vocabulary to one that could be understood by human beings from all walks of life.

Before we come into this realm, we choose our avatar.
We equip it with all that it will need to function in this realm and enable you to complete your mission/soul purpose. These avatar features include your “superhuman power”. It could be telepathy, being a Conduit/medium or mirror to the spiritual realm, it could be preaching or healing; you name it. Whatever your gift is, that is one of the gifts you are born “ufumbethe” “goba kasepedi rere ohuperi” in your fist when you are born.

There is however an error: Being born into the human realm is a traumatic experience.
So traumatic that it can lead to amnesia. You might forget your soul mission.
However, because you came uphethe; you will eventually feel tired and fatigue even on a spritiual level results in dis-ease. I say this, asking you to acknowledge that what happens in the spiritual realm will always manifest in the physical realm. “Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” “As above, so as under”

Some people are fortunate enough that they get to grasp and learn what their soul purpose is and we look up to them as Heroes or orle models. Oprah, Richard Branson, Master Sri Arkashana, you name your own.

Some people are "almost there", meaning that they get to spot their “super-power” and they begin to use it, but without applying it to its correct use, the tool begins to malfunction, which may lead to a “short-circuit”. Physical malfunction such as mental health issues such as depression, bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia or whatever you may have been diagnosed within the western medical space.

Other people become in a state of complete unawareness that they know nothing about a gift or a purpose and they just simply find themselves ill with no medical explanation. “Dis-ease”

Then we have the gangsters, the OGs who know and acknowledge the existence of this gift but refuse to even speak about the subject. These are those who chose ignorance over knowledge and I choose to not speak about their case.

Let's speak about the first two cases, the incorrect application of the gift and the unawareness of its existence.

So what does ukuthwasa have to do with all this? Why is it always the answer?

What is intwaso?

Maybe if we understand what it is then we will also avoid falling trap of false diagnosis. In cases where healers are not sure what your "diagnosis or cure prescription" should be, they do not seek a second opinion, they choose to misdiagnose you and prescribe the wrong cure.

Ukutwasa means to birth! In order for a living breathing fully grown adult to re-birth, there has to be death. This is where a term called “uvuma ukufa” comes in.

Within intwaso, you learn how to align and be in connection with your higher-self and those from your spiritual family. These are the guys who will sort of shout “mayday mayday” when there’s a problem ahead. Aka your ancestors and your guardian angels.

Here are some elements that exist entwasweni:

Moropa/isghubhu – The rhythm in music triggers great e-motion (energy motion) in one’s heart; making empathy easier to acquire/express. Healing comes from the heart. Dis-ease means there is no ease, there is no peace; which are fundamental qualities of the human heart. The drum, just like the beat of our heart is the soul engine of the rebirth that comes through intwaso.

The dancing – Ukugida, go bina. We have what is called "amakhosi", "kanti wona agubha amalwandle" when they dance which simply means the movement of the feet in this dance would be similar to shifting sand with your feet and this creates a connection with you and the ground using static energy. This dance form is important for grounding. We also have an important one known as "umndawe" and this dance can also be identified with mantshomane of the shangane people and malopo abapedi. This dance helps stimulate the root chakra so you function better in the human realm. It eliminates toxins that cause fear and it stimulates movement of the kundilini energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine.

Ama gobongo – This is a term we’ve most probably heard flying around at muthi shops or most probably among fellow sangoma friends.
Igobongo is an important part of alignment when you go through ukuthwasa as your healing path. amagobongo are herbs that contain a lot of microbiological components that both your body and spirit need to intertwine properly. It is the herbal medicine that can make or break you if not administered correctly or if tempered with when prescribed to you. It is used in the form of a foam-like substance to open the solar plexus and detox the gut and neutralise acid and mucus in the gastric tract. This is because all illness begins in the gut. The solar plexus is the middle/centre chakra which works both physically and spiritually. If the area where this chakra is located, issues related to low self-esteem or the complete opposite being extreme anger. such e-motions may interrupt your development of empathy.
